Calabi Gallery is pleased to present the art of Iva Hladis. An eclectic selection of new gallery acquisitions will also be exhibited, as well as old favorites.

Iva Hladis was born in communist Czechoslovakia in 1965. In 1985 she escaped and settled in Rome, Italy. After a year in Rome, she was granted political asylum in the United States, and lived in Los Angeles for the next 29 years. Hladis recently moved to Sonoma County, California.

Hladis creates various forms of art, including pencil drawings, oil and acrylic paintings, assemblages of used computer circuit boards, and needle felted jewelry. In the last 25 years her art has gone through many phases, from dark symbolic expressionism to lighter more realistic representation. Most recently her attention has turned to the issues of global warming and world destruction.

Please join us for an opening reception on Saturday, June 9th from 4-7pm. The exhibition will run June 9th – July 28th, 2018 > EXTENDED until August 8th, 2018
