The Magical World of Christian Quintin

Opening Reception: Saturday, December 11, 1-8pm // Exhibition: December 10, 2021 – January 29, 2022

We are pleased to announce a new one man show for Christian Quintin. His fantastic visionary scenes derive much of their power from his remarkable technical skills and his use of the best materials available. While the conceptual compositions are of paramount importance to the art, his technical prowess is extremely rare in contemporary art. As a conservator of paintings, it is a great pleasure for me to view art devoid of technical flaws, and built to last. Most of all, they are beautiful, in an era largely devoid of it. Considering the ugliness of the climate crisis, covid, and international strife, we could all use some more beauty in our lives.

Christian Quintin was born in the town Saint Brieuc, on the northern coast of Brittany, France. He studied at the Beaux Arts Academy in Paris before moving to the United States in 1981. His pen and ink drawings, oil and pastel paintings have been exhibited in many solo and group shows, in galleries and museums including the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. Christian was represented by the famed Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco and New York, which gave its first U.S. show to M.C. Escher. He has also been the recipient of numerous public and private commissions. Christian lives in Northern California and recently published his first book of poems.

Due to covid, our opening reception will be much different from the past. No food or drinks so we can keep our masks on, with longer hours to hopefully avoid too many visitors at one time. We will monitor the number of people in the gallery, so if too many arrive at once, we may need to make folks wait outside for a bit. No entrance without a mask. Opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 11, 1-8pm. The show will run Friday, December 10, to Saturday, January 29.
