About “Sun and Moon”
“Sun and Moon” is the acupuncture name of the 24th point along the Gall Bladder meridian. Its function is to unite the Yin and the Yang in such a manner that they dance beautifully together. The Yin (the feminine, the inner, the moon, the Water the Kidneys) uniting and dancing with the Yang (the masculine, the outer, the sun, the Fire and the Heart.)
How this dance shows up as healthy is when the experience of your inner self emerges decisively from the depths of your being to the outside world. When the outside world perceives you in the same way you are expressing and experiencing yourself and feeds that information back to you, you will understand yourself to be living a coherent life of integrity and truth.
I wanted to portray the energetic information embedded in this particular acupuncture point. This is a painting of my dear friend Rylin who died of breast cancer 18 years ago. For me, she embodied the beautiful blend of male and female energy. She is “Sun and Moon.” – Warren Bellows, Lic.Ac.
