Abstract Landscapes – A collection of digital prints
The inspiration for these pictures comes from a variety of sources – some known and some unknown. Among the influences that I can recognize are: certain landscapes and moods of nature, previous artworks of mine and other artists whom I admire, and of places visited in the world and only in my mind.
How they are made is, for me, of secondary importance to the images themselves, but may be of interest to the viewer. They are ‘hand made’ on a computer. That is they are not derived from photographs, but (mostly) by using graphic elements in the program Adobe Illustrator running on an Apple Macintosh. Then I print them myself on an Epson ink-jet printer. All of the prints are made with archival materials, acid-free paper printed with pigment-based inks estimated to last at least 75 years under reasonable conditions. The mats and framing are also made of acid-free archival materials.
Each print is unique. They are not individually numbered as traditional prints are, because each time I make one I make some changes and so each is a mono print by traditional description. Similar versions of all the images are available.
